What is Art Classes Port Macquarie?

Art Classes Port Macquarie offers relaxed, supportive art classes and workshops for adults (and selected teen classes) in Port Macquarie, NSW. Our classes include watercolour, acrylics, drawing and special masterclasses inspired by artists such as Van Gogh and Claude Monet.

Where are the classes held?

Our classes are held at our studio in Port Macquarie, NSW. The exact address and directions are included in your booking confirmation email.

Who teaches the classes?

Our classes are taught by experienced, practising artists who are passionate about sharing their skills. Many of our classes are led by award-winning artist Lilia Varetsa, known for her floral watercolours and expressive acrylic paintings.


2. Classes & Skill Levels

I’m a complete beginner. Are your classes suitable for me?

Yes! Many of our classes are designed specifically with beginners in mind. We take you step by step through the process so you don’t feel lost or overwhelmed. Each class description will say if it’s beginner-friendly.

I’ve done some art before. Will I still learn something new?

Absolutely. Our teachers demonstrate core techniques and then help you at your own level – whether you’re just starting out or already painting and want to refine your skills, try new techniques or loosen up your style.

What types of classes do you offer?

We regularly run:

  • Watercolour classes

  • Acrylic painting classes

  • Drawing and sketching sessions

  • Special masterclasses, such as our Van Gogh & Monet masterclass

Do you run kids or teen classes?

We occasionally run classes that are suitable for older teens. Any age guidelines will be clearly noted on the class page. At this stage, we do not generally run children’s classes unless specifically advertised.


3. Bookings & Payments

How do I book a class?

You can book:

Once your booking and payment are received, you’ll get a confirmation email with all the details.

Do I need to pay in advance?

Yes. Full payment is required to secure your place in a class or workshop. Places are limited, so we recommend booking early.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept common online payment methods (e.g. card payment through our booking system) and will provide details at checkout or via email when you book.


4. Cancellations & Rescheduling (Summary)

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that plans can change. Our policy is:

  • If you cancel 48 hours or more before your class start time:

    • You may request a full refund, or

    • Choose a credit towards a future class (subject to availability).

  • If you cancel less than 48 hours before your class start time:

    • Your fee is non-refundable, as materials and staffing have already been organised.

    • In some cases, at our discretion, we may be able to transfer you to another date, if there is space available.

Can I transfer my booking to someone else?

Yes. If you can’t attend, you’re welcome to send a friend or family member in your place at no extra charge.
Just email us at info@artclassesportmacquarie.com.au with their name so we can update our list.

What happens if I don’t show up?

No-shows (not attending without notice) are not eligible for a refund or credit.

What if Art Classes Port Macquarie cancels a class?

If we ever need to cancel or reschedule a class (for example, due to low numbers, illness, or unforeseen circumstances), you will be offered:

  • A full refund, or

  • A transfer/credit to another date or class.


5. What to Bring & Materials

Do I need to bring my own art materials?

For your first class, we provide essential materials such as:

  • Paints appropriate to the class (e.g. watercolour or acrylics)

  • Basic brushes

  • Palettes and water containers

  • Paper or canvas suited to the project

For second and subsequent sessions or ongoing classes, your teacher may suggest that you bring:

  • A few spare brushes

  • Any favourite materials you like to use

This will be discussed with you in class or via email.

What should I wear?

Art can get messy! We recommend:

  • Comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting paint on, and/or

  • An apron or old shirt

Some art materials may stain, so please don’t wear anything too precious.


6. On the Day of the Class

What time should I arrive?

Please aim to arrive 5–10 minutes before the class start time. This gives you time to settle in, find your seat and get set up.

Is there parking nearby?

Yes, there is parking available in the surrounding area. Details about parking or public transport options are included in your booking confirmation email.

How long are the classes?

Class duration varies depending on the type of session (for example, 1 to 2 hour classes or 2 hour masterclasses). The length of each class is listed in the class description when you book.


7. Gift Vouchers

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes! Gift vouchers are a lovely way to treat someone to a creative experience.

How do gift vouchers work?

Gift vouchers:

  • Can be used as payment towards eligible classes at Art Classes Port Macquarie

  • Have an expiry date clearly marked on them

  • Are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash

To redeem, the recipient simply contacts us with their voucher code and chooses a class (subject to availability).


8. Health, Safety & Accessibility

Are your classes accessible?

We aim to be as accessible as possible. If you have any mobility needs, health conditions or accessibility questions, please contact us before booking so we can discuss how best to support you and confirm whether the venue suits your needs.

Do you cater for allergies or sensitivities?

If you have allergies or sensitivities (for example, to certain pigments, dust or other materials), please let us know before the class so we can advise you and make adjustments where possible.

Are your classes COVID-safe / illness-safe?

We ask that you do not attend if you are feeling unwell. You’re welcome to contact us as early as possible to discuss your options. We follow current health guidance as needed and keep materials and shared areas as clean as practical.


9. Private Groups & Events

Do you run private group classes or events?

Yes, we can often arrange private group sessions for:

  • Small corporate groups

  • Creative catch-ups with friends

  • Special occasions (e.g. birthdays, hens parties with an art focus)

Availability depends on our timetable and teacher schedules.

10. Photos, Social Media & Artwork

Will you take photos during class?

We may occasionally take photos or short videos during classes for our website and social media.

If you do not want to be photographed, just let your teacher know at the start of the class and we will respect your preference.

Can I take photos of my work?

Yes, please do! You’re welcome to photograph your own artwork and progress. We just ask that you’re respectful of other students’ privacy and don’t post photos of others without their permission.

Do I get to keep my artwork?

Yes. You take home the artwork you create during class. It’s yours to keep, frame, gift or continue working on at home.
